Senior Software Engineer – Fleet Management Limited
Job Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a technical leader shaping the architecture and delivery of next‑generation maritime technology platforms, driving design and development of scalable, resilient, and intelligent applications that enhance ship and shore‑based operations globally.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and architecture of key modules and microservices within the PARIS platform.
Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and hands‑on support.
Collaborate with product managers and designers to transform business needs into scalable technical solutions.
Contribute to the technical roadmap, balancing innovation with platform stability and performance.
Promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and engineering excellence.
Build high‑quality, high‑performing web applications using React, Node.js, and AWS/Cloud.
Own end‑to‑end delivery—from design, development, testing to production deployment and monitoring.
Drive initiatives around Dev Ops, observability, and automation to streamline development processes.
Explore and integrate Generative AI and modern technologies to enhance user experience and productivity.
Identify performance bottlenecks, propose architectural improvements, and ensure security and scalability across the stack.
Set and maintain engineering standards for code quality, reviews, testing, and documentation.
Support Agile ceremonies and partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑impact features aligned with product strategy.
Lead by example—encourage collaboration, ownership, and a solution‑oriented mindset.
Key Qualifications – Essential
5+ years of experience as a full‑stack developer (React, Node.js, Java Script) with ownership of medium to large modules or end‑to‑end products.
Strong experience with relational databases (Postgre SQL, Oracle, Maria DB) including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
Solid experience in Agile methodologies, leading or mentoring teams (Scrum or Kanban).
Experience with cloud monitoring, observability, performance optimisation, and troubleshooting production issues.
Practical experience using AI‑assisted development tools (Git Hub Copilot, Claude, or other IDE plug‑ins) to enhance team productivity and code quality.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills on complex, secure, high‑impact systems.
Excellent communication skills in English, with experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
Strong stakeholder management to drive an adaptive and high‑performance development culture.
Desirable Skills
Hands‑on experience with Serverless architectures, ELK Stack, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Deep understanding of service‑oriented architecture, microservices, micro‑frontends, CI/CD, TDD, containerisation, and deployment best practices.
Exposure to mobile app development (i OS/Android) and associated frameworks, especially in delivering production‑grade apps.
Ability to review and influence architecture decisions, suggest improvements, and enforce coding and engineering standards.
