Major Duties and Responsibilities
Revise the existing syllabus and course contents as directed;
Develop updated learning materials;
Create assessment items (specimen papers, assignment questions, examination papers and marking schemes) to enhance students’ learning experience;
Prepare a course guide for the re‑developed course.
Candidate Qualifications
A higher degree in Nursing;
Teaching experience in Nursing or a health‑related discipline;
A good command of written English;
Preferably experience in teaching distance learning or part‑time courses;
Previous involvement in developing course materials for a higher education institution is a definite advantage.
Background
The NURS 1403 NED unit is a 12‑credit foundational course within the Bachelor of Nursing (part‑time) programme, aimed at students seeking the Bachelor of Nursing Studies (Mental Health Care). The course covers the nursing process, psychiatric nursing models, treatment of mental disorders, and management of diverse client groups.
Learning outcomes include the ability to:
Describe the nursing process steps and implementation;
Explain the historical development and models of psychiatric nursing;
Assess and treat various psychogeriatric, child and adolescent, and learning‑disability clients;
Plan nursing care for clients with a range of specific mental disorders.
