We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Engineering Lead.
Role Purpose
Pay Me is a HSBC mobile payment service, currently available only for Hong Kong users with local phone numbers and bank accounts. The Pay Me app enables our customers to go cashless. As well as paying their friends and family, they can also use our award-winning app to pay their favourite restaurants, retailers and many more. Pay Me is accepted at thousands of outlets across Hong Kong, with great offers and discounts exclusively for our personal and business users.
The Pay Me team are passionate about building software that provides seamless, intuitive, and reliable experiences to our customers and merchants. Significant effort has already been made towards the WPB and Wholesale strategy to deliver exceptional service, products, and experiences to our Pay Me customers.
Reporting into the Head of Technology, WPB HK & GBA, the Engineering Lead, Pay Me will have the following responsibilities:

Delivering against the Pay Me Change the Bank (CTB) order book (Value Stream Investment Portfolio)
Operational management of the Pay Me Technology team (pay, development, succession planning etc.) in Hong Kong and China
Executing the Pay Me Technology strategy

Whilst delivering on the Pay Me Technology strategy and roadmap, the Engineering Lead, Pay Me must take into account key Technology wide priorities such as transitioning to cloud-based technology solutions e.g., Azure to AWS migration, and the removal of legacy systems; sponsoring and driving the continued adoption of Dev Ops and Agile principles; and ensuring that the Pay Me platform is well maintained, stable and secure.
Principal Accountabilities:
Value Creation

Accountable for technology services, execution of strategy and delivery of the change portfolio for the Pay Me platform.
Providing management and oversight of Pay Me feature and capability deployments.
Partner in the delivery of technology programmes e.g., Cloud Optimisation, Vision 27 etc.
Responsible for ensuring that Pay Me demand is clearly articulated within the global portfolio and for ensuring that relevant information is captured to enable this local demand (HK specific) to be prioritised at the global level.
Responsible for any Pay Me Technology team / people changes, ensuring alignment with local HR and industrial relations.
Partner with the Pay Me Business team in the effective delivery of key objectives.

Operational Performance

Responsible for direct costs, headcount management, and annual planning for the Pay Me Technology team.
Responsible for managing the Pay Me Pods / Engineering Teams for application development, remediation, and service management.
Accountability for ongoing improvement of Service Quality and availability of Pay Me services in HK.

Leadership & Teamwork

Responsible for providing Entity and Functional management for Direct and Indirect reports in the Pay Me Technology team.
Attend relevant Pay Me governance committees and steercos, engaging in and managing key Technology topics.
Provide the Head of Technology, WPB HK & GBA with full oversight of and advice on all Pay Me Technology issues e.g., resolution of critical Technology incidents & coordination of key change and delivery deployments in HK.
