The primary purpose of the role is to facilitate effective communication and negotiation with Carriers and take charge of contract negotiations. Also, it has to cultivate strong relationships with Carriers to ensure required capacity supporting business operations. Additionally, to identify and evaluate competitive Ocean products to enhance the Company’s profitability. Key Accountabilities Responsible for directing and overseeing the procurement of ocean freight services for an organization. This role involves developing and executing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, managing relationships with shipping lines, and ensuring that all ocean freight services meet the company's cost, quality, and delivery requirements. Develop and execute a comprehensive Greater China Cluster procurement strategy for ocean freight, aligning with the company’s overall supply chain objectives. Conduct market analysis keeping informed on industry trends, capacity fluctuations, and pricing dynamics. Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key ocean carriers and service providers. Assisting to supervise, maintain and review the Ocean freight tariffs. Responsible for daily rate inquiries among DPW’s global organization. Provide regular reports on volume, TEUs and financial status. Monitor and manage the budget for ocean freight spending, ensuring alignment with financial targets. Evaluate on a regular basis supplier performance through a structured review process to ensure service quality and reliability. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including logistics, operations, finance, and sales teams, to align procurement strategies with broader business goals. Work with the logistics team to optimize container utilization, consolidation opportunities, and shipping routes. Assess and manage risks associated with ocean freight procurement, including geopolitical factors, carrier stability, and trade compliance. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 8 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain management, or procurement, specifically focusing on ocean freight. Strong in Intra Asia Trade is highly appreciated. Extensive knowledge and experience in ocean freight procurement, including understanding international shipping regulations, freight rates, carrier networks, container types, and the overall logistics process. Strong negotiation skills and adept at securing competitive rates and terms with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, and other service providers. Experience in contract negotiations is preferred. Ability to manage relationships with suppliers, which involves evaluating and selecting reliable ocean freight providers, monitoring performance, addressing any issues that arise, and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.
