Job Title
Head of Legal & Business Affairs, Warner Music Asia Pacific
What you’ll do
Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the regional legal team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Drive productivity and efficiency within the legal function to provide best-in-class support to the business.
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape and implement strategic initiatives that drive commercial growth and market expansion within the region.
Deal Negotiation: Lead and support negotiations for a wide range of commercial agreements, including artist recording contracts, licensing and distribution deals, joint-ventures, brand partnerships, digital distribution and technology agreements.
Litigation & Dispute Management: Oversee and strategically manage all litigation, disputes, and regulatory inquiries within the region, working with external counsel where necessary to achieve effective resolutions.
Data Management: help support business optimisation and management through robust data collection and management processes.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure the company’s operations comply with all relevant local laws and regulations. Implement and monitor adherence to group policies and procedures, managing risk effectively across the region.
Training & Development: Design and deliver engaging legal training to business teams on key topics such as copyright, contract law, and compliance to empower them to make informed decisions.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Provide legal support and due diligence for regional M&A activities and strategic investment opportunities.
About you
Qualified Lawyer: You are a qualified lawyer with a current practicing certificate.
Experienced Leader: You have a minimum of 10+ years' post-qualification experience, ideally gained both in a reputable law firm and in-house within the media, entertainment, or technology sectors.
Technical Expert: You possess exceptional knowledge of contract law and deep expertise in copyright law (IP) and intellectual property matters.
Pragmatic Problem-Solver: You are a commercially astute and strategic thinker, known for providing pragmatic, solutions-oriented legal advice that balances legal risk with business objectives.
Proven Manager: You have demonstrable experience managing and developing legal professionals.
Excellent Communicator: You have outstanding negotiation, drafting, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable Experience: Experience in handling M&A transactions would be a significant advantage.
This position requires a minimum of four days per week in the office. We value in-office collaboration and believe it’s essential for talent development and fostering strong working relationships.
