Job Summary The Senior Sports Executive is responsible for leading, managing and coordinating all initiatives related to the delivery of the 15th National Games Rugby Sevens Event for the HKCR event operations team. The Senior Sports Executive will be responsible for collaborating with all HKCR internal functional departments required to contribute to the delivery of the National Games Rugby Sevens Event. The role is a key liaison and point of contact for the National Games Organizing Committee and will provide key operational and event updates to the HKCR GM Event Operations and Chief Executive Officer. Specific responsibilities In relation to day-to-day operations, establishing and maintaining effective management practices and management systems in relation to the delivery of the National Games Rugby Sevens Event. Establishment and implementation of standard operating procedures that provide efficient and effective delivery of HKCR’s responsibilities as National Games Rugby Sevens Event delivery lead. Ensure that event delivery staff are clear on roles and responsibilities for their respective positions. Ensure that the staff and volunteer training needs are identified and that they receive timely and appropriate training for National Games event delivery requirements. Updating the GM Events and HKCR CEO regarding the monitoring and achievement of the objectives of the Event Operations Team and HKCR objectives for the National Games Rugby Sevens Event. Ensuring the effective allocation of responsibility for each HKCR staff member and volunteer in relation to the Sevens Event delivery, prioritising critical activities in line with the event delivery plan. Promoting and maintaining the development of strong working relationships between the National Games organising committee and HKCR event delivery staff and volunteers. Ensuring effective planning, organisation, delivery (and delegation where appropriate) of day-to-day operations with emphasis and focus on involving appropriate professional staff from other departments where necessary (commercial, marketing, community etc). Ensuring effective coordination and the application of appropriate standards throughout the event delivery and ensure staff and volunteer duties are discharged in accordance with HKCR policy. Developing and nurturing good working relations and strong ties through an up-to-date contact base between the HKCR and the National Games Organising Committee and key event stakeholders. Establishing effective communication channels with a view to ensuring that all key staff and volunteers are adequately informed as to HKCR’s activities and services in relation to the National Games Event delivery. Ensuring effective engagement with government and sporting organisations involved in the event delivery. Your profile An accredited associate degree from a Hong Kong tertiary institution/a Higher Diploma from a polytechnic university or polytechnic in Hong Kong or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or equivalent. (Ideally related to event management and delivery, and/or event operations, sport and leisure management)Proven leadership experience at an Executive level in event, sport and leisure management. Work experience within a high-paced environment with multiple pressures from the needs and expectations of diverse stakeholders. Experience of setting and delivering objectives and KPI’s against an event budget. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to be able to engage successfully with the key stakeholders at different levels. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and foster a collaborative work environment with internal teams and external stakeholders. Notably leading an event delivery team. Leadership experience in a professional sports association, preferably where both high performance and community competition exist. Experience operating at the international representative level of sport and events, specifically for major tournaments in Rugby Sevens. Professional rugby knowledge and experience and expertise in event operations. Salary offered will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
