Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager - Technical Services, the appointee will be responsible for evaluating critical power plant components to our generation business. Major Duties include: Responsible for evaluating the metallurgical properties and performance of critical power plant components, including boiler pipes/tubes, pressure vessels, other high-temperature and high-pressure components, high-rotation-speed equipment, and high-voltage equipment. Conduct failure analyses of power plant components to identify issues and recommend solutions to maintain the integrity and reliability of the plant's assets. Work closely with the plant's engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to provide technical expertise and support. Collaborate with third-party inspection and repair vendors to ensure quality workmanship and code compliance. Stay up-to-date on industry codes, standards, and best practices related to power plant metallurgy and materials engineering. Assist in the evaluation and selection of new materials for power station equipment to improve performance and longevity. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations. Manage the operation of the Metallurgy Lab, including personnel training, equipment calibration, chemical usage, and lab operation costs. Requirements A Master's or Doctoral degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a power generation or heavy industrial setting, with a focus on boiler and pressure vessel materials, high-rotation-speed equipment materials, and corrosion-resistant materials. Proficient in the application of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Design Code and other relevant codes and regulations. Demonstrated expertise in failure analysis, welding metallurgy, material heat treatment, and metallurgical repair techniques. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Familiarity with power plant equipment configuration, maintenance, and operations. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and vendors to solve technical issues such as material identification, material substitution, material aging level evaluation, and boiler high-temperature tube and pipe life evaluation. Candidate with less experience will be considered as Engineer - Metallurgy. Please apply on or before 1 July 2025.
