Duties The appointee will be required to (1) perform original and copy cataloguing, maintain the authority control for bibliographical records and provide support in the end-processing of library materials; (2) assist in collecting cataloguing statistics and compiling usage reports; (3) assist users in the use of library services, resources and facilities; (4) discharge operational duties relating to circulation, information enquiry, shelving and collection maintenance; (5) work at service counters on a regular shift basis, including evenings and weekends; (6) undertake other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or his/ her delegates.
Appointment Criteria Applicants should have (1) a recognized Degree or Higher Diploma, preferably in library information management related disciplines; (2) knowledge of Resource Description & Access, MARC21 and Library of Congress Subject Headings and LC Classification Scheme; (3) a familiarity with an Integrated Library System and discovery services; (4) practical experience in the provision of user support services; (5) a reasonably high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); (6) an ability to work independently and within a team in a self-motivated, collegial and responsible manner.
