As part of the Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy (HKGTA), HKGTA Town Club is the latest addition to the world of luxury private members' clubs. Nestled in the heart of the city, Town Club offers a unique blend of elegance, sophistication, and unparalleled service for our esteemed Patrons. Town Club takes pride in continuing to create an exclusive circle and secluded escape for Patrons, providing them with unlimited choices amid the bustling concrete jungle.
The Sommelier is responsible for leading the wine and beverage program across multiple dining concepts and event operations within Town Club, Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy. This is a floating role supporting Teak House, Chez Nous, Yakumo, and Events, ensuring a consistent and elevated wine service experience across all outlets.
The role oversees wine service excellence, cellar management, inventory control, shrinkage monitoring, beverage cost analysis, vendor relationships, staff training, and sales activation initiatives. The Sommelier works closely with restaurant leadership and service teams to drive guest satisfaction, commercial performance, and operational efficiency while strengthening the overall wine culture of the business.
What You Will Do
Oversee and support the day-to-day wine and beverage operations across Teak House, Chez Nous, Yakumo, and Events.
Float across outlets based on operational needs, business priorities, guest demand, and scheduled activations.
Deliver professional wine recommendations and pairing suggestions tailored to members’ and guests’ tastes, dining occasions, and menu selections.
Engage proactively with members and guests to understand preferences, collect feedback, and enhance the overall beverage experience.
Drive beverage revenue through effective upselling, suggestive selling, premium recommendations, and personalized service.
Support outlet teams in achieving high service standards and consistent execution of wine presentation and service rituals.
Coach, supervise, and guide service team members to deliver refined, knowledgeable, and guest-centric service.
Organize and conduct wine trainings, tasting sessions, and product knowledge workshops for staff across the company.
Develop team capability in wine knowledge, food pairing, service etiquette, and beverage selling techniques.
Monitor and evaluate team members’ performance, giving regular coaching and actionable feedback.
Handle members’ and guests’ enquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly, ensuring effective service recovery.
What You Should Have
Minimum 2 years of Sommelier experience in fine-dining, luxury hotel or private members club
Excellent communication, storytelling and upselling competency
Experience in wine list curation, inventory control and cellar management
Passionate in providing training to front line associates on wine knowledge, pairing and service
Candidates with one or more of the following qualifications are desired:
Certified Sommelier Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers(CMS)
WSET Level 3 Award in Wines or above
Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW)
