Are you ready to advance your in depth tax knowledge of various funds in the region?  Then, this is the role for you to manage and own tax compliance oversight of markets.
As a Vice President working in the Asset Management Operations team, you will enhance investors’ returns and proactively support the tax affairs of our J. P. Morgan Asset Management Hong Kong Fund Range. 
Key to your success will be both your technical taxation skills and the ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders. In this varied role, you will cover the full spectrum of tax deliverables on portfolio taxes impacting Hong Kong funds with scope to expand to assist on Taiwan, Australia, and Japan funds. In addition, you will be responsible to develop and manage our oversight and governance process across APAC to help identify opportunities to improve and key risk areas that could impact our APAC business. You will manage and own tax compliance oversight of markets we invest into to ensure our funds receive the most appropriate tax treatment including the accurate and timely review and completion of tax documents for our Hong Kong Fund Range and the regulatory tax reporting across our Asia Fund ranges.  You will ensure all taxation procedures are developed as required, maintained, and implemented, as well managing tax related interactions. You will develop and maintain existing internal and external relationships, such as service providers that support our Hong Kong Fund Range.
Job responsibilities:

Monitor practical tax developments in different markets and understand how the tax regulations impact operational processes and the funds.
Update policies & procedures to comply with the tax regulations and implement and monitor internal controls to ensure tax compliance.
Work with technology and intelligent automation tools to help automate processes across APAC
Design, develop and coordinate the APAC oversight and governance process relating to tax lifecycle events
Provide technical input on any tax-related product or other requests
Own and manage outstanding/expiring tax documentation (i.e. US and foreign withholding tax requirements W-8, W-9 as applicable), Documentation for Relief at Source and Reclaims, capital gains tax, financial transaction tax, tax regulatory reporting, and oversight on internal teams cover Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Common Reporting Standard (CRS), 1099, 1042, and Canada Tax reporting
Ensure close collaboration with the Corporate Actions, Fund Accounting, Trustee and Internal Tax teams
Analyse root-cause of recurring issues through regular review of metrics, and assist in developing programmes for service enhancements arising from these figures
Continually review operational tax processes to identify areas for enhancement
Identify and escalate tax risks and participate in resolution
Assist in Fund reviews and ad-hoc global tax projects implementation across the wider business and Internal Tax team

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

Degree holder in relevant qualification and fund tax experience
Have a deep understanding of Hong Kong Mutual funds and taxes impacting global investments to ensure the fund obtain best tax rate on investment income
You must have at least 7 years’ experience in asset management tax operations, custodian client tax support, accounting firms or other professional institutions
Effective communication skills
You will be able to give examples of your successful risk awareness, operational control, problem solving and process improvement experience
Proven experience within an arena where accuracy is critical within strict deadlines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

Strong data management skills will be considered to be an advantage
