Senior Research Manager (AI and Technology Applications) (Ref: 2500712)Office of the President The University is now inviting applications for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Research Manager (AI and Technology Applications) whose primary role is to advance the development and application of Artificial Intelligence in Education. This key position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the cutting-edge research initiatives, foster strategic partnerships with industry, professional bodies and foundations in alignment with the strategic goals in enhancing the leadership in AI-driven innovation and applications of the University. Key Responsibilities: Lead and drive innovative research and development activities related to the applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education Identify, develop and execute strategies and initiatives to secure funding through grants, donations, and sponsorships from but not limited to government agencies, philanthropic organizations, industry partners, and alumni networks Collaborate with faculty members within the University as well as industry partners and networks in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and beyond, to deliver impactful outcomes and publish research findings in form of reports, edited volumes and journal articles Develop research plans and oversee administrative functions related to research and externally funded projects, including proposal development, budget management, compliance, and reporting Undertake ad hoc duties and special projects as assigned Candidates should hold a Ph D in Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Data Science, or related fields, with a strong dedication to education and research excellence. Proven experience in managing strategic research projects, securing funding, and fostering collaborations with industry partners is essential. Prior exposure to project management, partnership development, and network building in Hong Kong SAR, the Greater Bay Area, or the region is highly desirable. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills are required to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Putonghua is essential, along with the ability to handle challenging situations tactfully and professionally. The appointee is expected to travel outside of Hong Kong and undertake work as assigned by the University, where necessary. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 15% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits, and, where applicable, housing benefits. Candidate with less experience will be considered for the post of Research Manager (AI and Technology Applications). The successful appointee will hold a substantive rank of Project Manager.
