A research project entitled “Developing Ethnic Minority‑based Tourism: A Networked Social Capital Perspective of the Thai Community in Hong Kong” aims to explore how community‑based tourism fosters social inclusion among ethnic minority groups in a metropolitan city. The project employs a qualitative ethnographic approach to investigate the lived experiences of the Thai community in Hong Kong, examining social interactions, negotiations, and tensions among diverse stakeholders.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct community fieldwork and record observational notes.
Recruit and build rapport with research participants and stakeholders.
Coordinate and conduct in‑depth interviews.
Perform data organisation, transcription, coding, and analysis.
Report and discuss research progress on a weekly basis.
Provide administrative assistance to the Principal Investigator.
Candidates
A bachelor’s degree, preferably a higher degree, in tourism management, sociology, anthropology, social work, cultural studies, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 1 year of community work or research experience.
Professional command of spoken and written English and Thai.
Detail‑oriented, hardworking, organised, responsible, self‑motivated, and able to meet tight deadlines and work independently.
Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as a Technical Assistant.
Terms and Conditions for Appointment
Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary full‑time contract. Benefits will be provided in accordance with statutory provisions.
